A travel website called 10Best, said the top 10 places to go to in Chicago are:
1. Art Institute of Chicago
2. Baha'i House of Worship
3. Chicago Botanic Garden
4. Field Museum of Natural History
5. Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio
6. John G. Shedd Aquarium
7. Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago
8. Navy Pier
9. Sears Tower
10. Wrigley Field
In theory creatig a top 10 of general places to visit in Chicago is near impossible, I would have a top 10 of Chicago bars (first and foremost obviously), then a top 10 of places for teenagers and young adults to hang out, a top 10 for middle aged people, a summertime Chicago top 10, a wintertime Chicago top 10, a "I'm bored, what is there to do in Chicago" top 10, a Chicago top 10 if you just moved to the city, and the list goes on. Now you can see how this might be rather overwhelming, but I will try to do my best to come up with my own general Top 10 for my home town. Let me also note just how pleased I am that Wrigley field is
on this "official" Top 10, and there is a very noticeable absence of U.S. Cellular :). Anyway, back to my list:
Now these top 10 are nice. They fulfill the majority of people's expectations when they visit Chicago, however they are a little too boring, a little too "run of the mill" for me. Now my top 10 would be one which would entice people to come to, as Lupe Fiasco says, "the city in the Midwest, best city in the whole wide wide world."
1. 12th street beach and sunrise
2. Taste of Chicago
3. Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio (for the sole reason that it's located about 3 blocks from my house. I'm warning, you will be bored to tears)
4. Lollapalooza
5. Driving all the way up and down Lake Shore Drive
6. Berry Chill Frozen Yogurt
7. Ed Debevic's
8. Dick's Last Resort
9. Navy Peer Ferris Wheel
10. Wicked at the Oriental Theater
